After reviewing your X-rays and 3D scan at your consultation, Dr. G gives you a specific estimated timeline for your case — and her estimates typically prove highly accurate — so you know what you're committing to before you start. Wearing your aligners or elastics as directed is the single biggest factor in finishing on schedule.
If you're moving to the area, yes! If you've relocated to Lutz or are new to the Tampa Bay area while in braces or aligners, we'll request your records from your previous orthodontist ourselves, and Dr. G will assess exactly where your treatment stands and outline what's left, including cost, before you decide anything. We handle the coordination with your previous practice, so you don't have to. For patients in active treatment with another local orthodontist, we don't take over mid-treatment — finishing with the doctor who planned your case is what best protects your result.
Sometimes, yes. Major life events like a wedding, graduation, or milestone celebration can be reason enough to pause treatment temporarily. If you're an active patient at Lightning Orthodontics, Dr. G can take your braces off before the event and rebond them afterward for a small added fee. This isn't automatic though. Removing braces mid-treatment affects how your teeth are moving, so Dr. G reviews each request individually and puts a corrective plan in place to get you back on track. If it's safe for your specific case, we'll work with you to make it happen.
Some discomfort is normal, especially after adjustments or starting a new aligner. However, modern orthodontic technology has made treatments much more comfortable than in the past.
